The focus program of the 18th Arts Ambassador Scheme hosted by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) — "Youth Arts Week" will officially kick off on 24 July. This year's "Youth Arts Week" takes "Convergence · Arts Imagine" as its theme and will present a range of vibrant and diverse art activities at Tsuen Wan Nan Fung Cotton Mill from 25 July to 16 August, including art experiences, art workshops, a cappella and tap dance performances, and an art market, leading everyone to fully experience and explore art during this summer vacation and create a vibrant arts summer together! This year, the Scheme also held a pilot activity, "Step into the Past Ambassadors' Studios!", in late June, leading over 70 current Arts Ambassadors to visit the studios of two alumni ambassadors to learn about the daily life of artists and warm up for this vibrant arts summer.
Travel Through Time Explore the Stories of Tsuen Wan
The highlight of this year's "Youth Arts Week" is the art experience "Time Travel Transit Station", a collaborative creation by illustration artist Liu Jingwen (UUendy Lau) and embroidery artist Guo Wenfen (Stephanie Kwok), incorporating the ambassadors' illustrations and embroidery works to create an immersive scene that travels through time between 2090 and present-day Tsuen Wan. The venue will feature multiple photo spots and interactive areas, leading visitors to explore the stories of Tsuen Wan from a fresh perspective. The experience activity will be held at Nan Fung Cotton Mill from 25 July to 16 August and is free of charge and open to the public without reservation.
Interweaving of Sounds and Beats "Step" into a Rhythm Journey
The "Rhythm Journey — A Cappella x Tap Dance" performance and post-show talk will be held on 25 and 26 July, featuring the Arts Ambassadors who participated in the "Advanced Arts Courses" showcasing a vibrant audiovisual feast through songs, body rhythms, and tap dance steps. After the performance, there will be a post-show talk where artists will share their creative insights and rehearsal journey.
Art Market Gathering of Creative Brands
The art market will be held on 25-26 July, featuring six past Arts Ambassadors displaying creative works in different media (such as woodwork, ink painting, painting, and metalwork) and sharing the joy of art creation with the public. Free admission.
Everyone is invited to join "Youth Arts Week" this summer and feel the infinite possibilities of art together!
Event Details:
"Time Travel Transit Station" Art Experience
This experience is curated by "World Date" and features two local artists — Liu Jingwen (UUendy Lau), who is skilled in illustration creation, and Guo Wenfen (Stephanie Kwok), who focuses on embroidery crafts. They will lead the Arts Ambassadors to conduct field research in the Tsuen Wan community, transforming their observations into creative elements: using illustrations to outline future imaginations and embroidery to weave community memories.
Through the works of the artists and ambassadors, the audience will embark on a time travel journey, looking back at present-day Tsuen Wan from 2090 and rediscovering the everyday community landscapes from a fresh perspective.
The venue will feature multiple carefully designed interactive sessions and photo spots, and the audience can also make their own exclusive embroidered cards on-site and take home a unique souvenir.
